Across the Fruited Plain with a Click of Your Mouse
U.S. ATLAS VERSION 3, from the Software Toolworks is the latest version of this excellent reference tool. Here is a sampling of what's included:
• Over 110 color reference and relief maps.
• State maps with county names and boundaries.
• Over 1,000 statistical maps for states and counties.
• Comparison graphs for states and counties.
• 11 major information categories, with over 200 subtopics,
from geology to economy.
• City data in text form includes area codes, mean temperatures,
annual precipitation, etc.
There are regional maps of 28 cities. Savannah is not included as a map, but there is statistical data in text form. You can have the program put together graphs of data that you specify.
We tested the CD-ROM version, but the program is also available on standard floppies. The CD version was quite responsive when moving from map to map and graph to graph.
There are several ways you can customize the program: markers can be replaced on maps, and notes can be attached. For the CD version, this custom data is stored in a folder in your System Folder and loaded into the program as needed.
Getting information out of the program is a breeze; any map on the screen can be saved as a PICT file, and text can be copied and pasted in standard Macintosh fashion. Making reports is easy!
